North Midlands RFU and the North Midlands Society of Rugby Football Referees have been working closely together and in collaboration with Birmingham University to try and add support and understanding in how to approach and deal with unacceptable pitch side behaviour.
There is no desire to eliminate ‘banter’, however, there are occasions when behaviour and remarks are clearly in contravention of the expectations of rugby’s Core Values and as detailed in the recent joint publication of the Expected Standards of Behaviour issued to all Clubs.
Our colleagues at Birmingham University, responding to our request to arrange some training relating to anger management for delivery to all our clubs, are now in a position to deliver their draft proposed presentation on the subject.
They would first like to trial their presentation to a small group of volunteers to gather important feedback and to ensure that the content is accurate and correct.
North Midlands are seeking a small number of willing volunteers from both Senior and Junior sections of any North Midlands club to contribute to this process and to attend a presentation which will be held on the evening of Tuesday February 12.
The venue has yet to be confirmed but the Birmingham University team have requested that the ‘pilot’ is accommodated in the Birmingham area for their convenience.
Could any club in the Greater Birmingham area who may wish to host the event and which can provide a dedicated room, OHP facility, a buffet and bar facility to contact Charlie Hemmings as soon as possible..
Please forward requests to attend and/or to host the meeting to email@example.com by Thursday January 24.
