Shrewsbury seek director of rugby and head coach

14/05/10   by Paul Bolton

Shrewsbury are seeking a Director of Rugby and Head Coach for next season.

The Director of Rugby will have responsibility for driving forward the senior playing section of the Midlands West 2 North club which fields three men's teams and an occasional fourth XV. Shrewsbury also run a Sunday Colts XV.

Shrewsbury aspire in the next four seasons to:

• To gain promotion to Mids West 1 North and sustain a position in this league
• To regularly field 4 men's teams on a Saturday afternoon
• To establish a structured link between junior and senior Rugby at the club

Shrewsbury are looking for someone with suitable experience playing and coaching rugby who is ambitious and enthusiastic to help us achieve the above.

They do not need to be a member of SRFC but they do need to be able to lead a team of coaches, captains and other volunteers to deliver an enticing programme of senior rugby.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for recruiting a team of coaches and overseeing a coaching plan and selection policy amongst all senior teams (inc Colts). They will also have an overview of fixtures for lower teams.

The Head Coach will have principal responsibility for coaching and match preparation of the 1st XV squad and will also be an integral member of Shrewsbury's Senior Playing team, which will be headed up by the new Director of Rugby. Mentoring others and being able to work as an effective member of a team of coaches is important.

A minimum of 2 years experience coaching senior rugby (and performing to a high standard) is essential along with a minimum RFU Level 2 Coach Award.

Applicants do not need to be a member of SRFC but they should be enthusiastic about working in a team / club environment and continually improving your coaching skills.
