Wagstaff called up by North Midlands

20/05/10   by Paul Bolton

North Midlands have called up Old Halesonians scrum-half Chris Wagstaff for their County Championship Bill Beaumont Cup Division Two North decider against Warwickshire at Rugby Lions on Saturday May 22 (3pm).

Wagstaff, who impressed for Worcestershire & Herefordshire in their recent RLF North Midlands Championship-winning campaign, replaces Ollie Frost of Worcester Warriors who is unavailable this weekend.

Wagstaff becomes the fourth scrum-half used by North Midlands in three matches this season. Rod Petty of Birmingham & Solihull played against Durham two weeks ago but is not available and Ollie Williams of Luctonians damaged a shoulder when he came on as a replacement against Eastern Counties last week.

There are three more enforced changes to North Midlands' starting XV because of unavailability.

Dale Garner of Birmingham & Solihull replaces Dan Oselton of Moseley at hooker, Will Betts, another B&S player, will partner club-mate Alex Davidson in the second row in place of Gareth Taylor and Simon Daws returns in the back row in place of Hereford's Guy Thompson.

Newcomers on the bench include Luctonians lock Trevor Bufton and Whitchurch flanker Robin Le Coq, Shropshire's Player of the Tournament in the RLF Nortth Midlands Championship.
