Yardley & District stage Help for Heroes Dinner

Former British Lions captain Willie-John McBride will be the guest speaker at Yardley & District's fund-raising dinner for the Help for Heroes services charity.

McBride, who also captain Ireland during an illustrious playing career, is now a successful after-dinner speaker and will top the bill at the Yardley & District event at the Paragon Hotel in Birmingham on September 17.

The east Birmingham club hosted a successful rugby day for Help for Heroes last year and have maintained their links with the charity. The dinner has been organised in memory of Rifleman Joseph Murphy of C Company 2 Rifles who lost his life in Afganistan last July aged 19.

The three-course dinner will be preceded by a champagne reception.

Tickets cost £85 with double rooms in the hotel available at £55.
