North Midlands Under-16s seek assistant coach

North Midlands are seeking a new assistant coach to work with the county's Under-16 team next season.

The assistant coach will report to the North Midlands Under-16s Lead Coach, or in his absence the North Midlands 16s Team Manager.

Roles and Responsibilities:

1. Assist the Lead Coach in planning the Coaching programme for the season to achieve the objectives set by the North Midlands 7 – 18 Group



2. Responsible for the outcomes of those parts of the Coaching programme delegated to him/her.

o Plan, prepare and oversee delivery of their specific coaching sessions.

o Evaluate all coaching sessions and games with the Lead Coach.

o Ensure that all sessions he/she delivers achieves the desired outcomes

o Implement those delegated aspects of the game plan for each match

o Provide feedback to fellow coaches and players.

o Mentor and advise players where appropriate.

3. Advise the Lead Coach on the preferred starting line-up of the players for each game.

4. Attend all trials, coaching sessions, matches and meetings involved with the Squad.

5. Assist in the pastoral care of the players as required.

6. Work closely with the Management Team to ensure that coaching programme achieves the objectives set for it

Tenure:
The appointment is made by the North Midlands 7 – 18 Group and will be reviewed at the end of the first season

Commitment:
Whilst the post holder will be offered a high degree of flexibility to fulfil the above Roles and Responsibilities by utilising their personal strengths the following time commitments would appear to be the minimum required to successfully fulfil the demands of the post.

o Attend North Midlands 16 Selection & Grading Meetings.

o Attend inter CB graded games

o Attend the North Midlands Development Day

o Attend the Midlands selection games.

o Attend the North Midlands Under 15 Festival

o Attend the North Midlands Under 15 training sessions


Skills and Qualities:
• Experience – Should have experience of coaching young people at representative level and be able to demonstrate an empathy with young people 15-16

• Rugby Knowledge – It is expected that the Assistant Coach will have the required level of knowledge to enable the players to achieve their potential for North Midlands and beyond.

• The Assistant Coach should have a sound understanding of the RFU performance pathway for players.

• Commitment and Enthusiasm – This position will require a large time commitment involving some evenings and weekends for training and matches.

• Punctuality – The Assistant Coach helps set the standards for the players and squad.

• Planning – The Assistant Coach must be capable of planning the coaching programme for the positional responsibility delegated to him/her.

• Leadership – The Assistant Coach helps set an example and standards for the squad. As such he/she will need to be able to inspire all involved to maximize their potential.

• Team Work – The Assistant Coach needs to be able to work effectively with other members of the Management Team.

• Should be in possession of an up to date CRB documentation
