Bromsgrove's achievement in becoming the first North Midlands club and only the second in the West Midlands to be awarded the prestigious RFU Whole Club Seal of Approval was recognised at a presentation ceremony at Finstall Park.
Colin Major, the chairman of the North Midlands Rugby Development Partnership, made the presentation to Philip Amphlett, Bromsgrove's President. Steve Guy, the North Midlands President, was also part of the presentation party.
The Whole Club Seal of Approval award recognises the effort and achievement of volunteers in attaining the high standards needed in developing and sustaining rugby union in their clubs.
Introduced in 2009 and building on established Seal of Approval awards for provision of youth rugby, the new accreditation requires clubs to provide evidence of good practice in areas including club management, player development and recruitment, child protection, sports equity, coaching and refereeing, as well as the recruitment and management of volunteers.
Bromsgrove, formed in 1872, playing in National Three Midlands and boast a senior section with more than 130 players, more than 150 in their mini and youth section plus more than 30 RFU-qualified coaches and nine RFU-accredited referees.
Attaining Whole Club Seal of Approval status required a lot of hard work and dedication by club volunteers and Peter Hunt, supported by John Blackhall and Richard Barron, were key figures in Bromsgrove's success.
Ben Waterhouse, one of the RFU's Rugby Development Officers for North Midlands, said: "Congratulations and well done to Bromsgrove RFC on achieving the RFU's Whole Club Seal of Approval and in doing so becoming the first club in the North Midlands and one of the first 25 nationally to complete this
"The whole club have really brought in to the accreditation process and I know that they have found it to be of benefit in developing the club and moving it forwards. Special mention must go to Peter Hunt and his group of willing volunteers who have worked tirelessly to achieve this."
