Aston Old Edwardians have launched a fund-raising appeal to support the three-year-old son of their former player Sean Sandford.
Sandford, who played first team rugby and cricket for Aston OE and who was Second XV Player of the Season in 2017/18, died during the summer from brain cancer leaving a young son, Barnaby.
A group of former team-mates and Aston OE members decided to raise money to support Barnaby and his family by walking the 177-mile length of Offa’s Dyke from Prestatyn to Chepstow.
The trek will be undertaken in stages over the coming months and Aston OE would welcome support from other North Midlands clubs for the venture.
Donations can be made via: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/seansandford or by cheque made payable to AOE RFC and posted to Aston Old Edwardians, Sunnybank Avenue, Perry Common, Birmingham B44 0HP
