The funeral of former Kings Norton player and president Chris Coosey will take place at Redditch Crematorium on October 4 (1.15pm).
Coosey died recently aged 75 after a long and brave battle against cancer. He joined Kings Norton shortly after they moved to Hopwood in 1973 as a prop and continued playing into his sixties.
He was a long-serving committee member and was responsible for managing the bar and clubhouse for many years.
Cooksey also ran a successful Colts section that produced future first team players including his sons Gareth and Phillip, current captain Richard Revell and wing Nick Baxter who went on to play for Worcester, Birmingham & Solihull and the Barbarians.
Cooksey’s wife, Joyce, ran Kings Norton’s kitchen for many years until she fell ill and passed away around 10 years ago.
Since that time Cooksey had spent virtually all of his spare time at Hopwood Park supporting and assisting the club and especially the youth section along with all other duties where he could help.
