Aston OE are staging a charity fund-raising day to help their stricken player Simon Welch at their Sunnybank Avenue headquarters on May 26.
Welch was diagnosed with a cyst of the brain after he collapsed during a fourth team match,
Unfortunately his condition is no longer treatable but Aston have organised the event to raise funds for Welch’s family and the Wooden Spoon rugby charity.
The day will include two matches which players from North Midlands clubs are invited to play in.
Aston’s women’s team will play an invitation XV at 12pm with the men taking on a side made up of players from local clubs at 2pm.
Entry is £2 per spectator or a donation of £5 for each player.
There will be a raffle with rugby memorabilia as prizes and food and drink throughout the day.
