Birmingham University are seeking a first XV backs coach for the forthcoming season.
Birmingham University field seven teams – men and women – on Wednesday afternoons across a range of BUCS leagues.
The club had a successful 2018/19 season with the Men’s 1st XV finishing second in North A, and Men’s 2nd XV winning Midlands Two to be promoted in to Midlands 1. The Women’s 1st XV finished in a respectful fifth position in the women’s Prem A, whilst the Women’s 2nd XV have been entered into the BUCS leagues for the upcoming season.
To sustain this success and growth Birmingham University are looking for a 1st XV assistant coach to oversee the backs to join their coaching team and contribute to the development of the club’s teams.
Birmingham University are able to offer a range of coaching and development opportunities suitable for both new coaches and experienced coaches. Expenses are available for the right people.
The successful candidate will work with Tom Drewett, the University’s Head Coach, an RFU Level 3 Coach, currently working towards his Level 4 qualification, and former professional player with coaching experience in age group and semi-professional rugby. He leads a small group of coaches of varying backgrounds and experience.
The club’s main training session is on Monday evenings between 6pm and 8pm, and Friday afternoons (4-6pm). The club season is from October 1 to the end of March. Coaches must be able to attend matches on Wednesdays.
