Bromsgrove have been officially declared world record breakers for the longest rugby match ever played.
The match, which was staged at Finstall Park last August, featured two teams from the club – Boars and Barbarians – who played continuously for 25 hours 59 minutes and 47 seconds.
The Guinness Book of World Records has now confirmed that Bromsgrove set a new world record after spending 10 months studying evidenmce submitted by the club including videi footage and written statements.
Bromsgrove have knocked more than an hour off the previous record after the two teams played from lunchtime on August 24 to 2.15pm the following day.
For the record, the Boars beat the Barbarians 1,326-1,299!.
Apart from breaking the record the match was organised to raise funds for Scotty’s Little Soldiers, a charity which supports the children of service men and women killed in action.
