North Midlands Under-16s completed their short representative season with a 12-0 win over Warwickshire at Leamington today.
The win followed a draw against Warwickshire at Redditch three weeks ago and the victory was hard-earned.
A strong wind dictated tactics with North Midlands using the conditions to open up a 7-0 first half lead with lock Jacob Jefferies (Shrewsbury School) going over the opening try and centre Freddie Spencer (Bishop of Hereford’s Bluecoat School and Luctonians) landing a difficult conversion.
North Midlands had to work hard to defend their lead after the break but their patience was rewarded when Jed Douthwaite (Whitecross School) went over an unconverted try.
North Midlands made good use of their bench to deny Warwickshire a breakthrough.
Players who appeared in the two matches against Warwickshire will now be considered for inclusion in the Worcester Warriors Academy squad for the Wellington Festival in Berkshire during the Easter break.
