North Midlands Under-18s slumped to a 29-5 defeat by Warwickshire at Broadstreet RFC today.
North Midlands were outscored five tries to one and paid the price for producing a disappointing error-riddled performance in front of the watching Midlands selectors.
A close range try from hard-working loosehead prop Connor Deignan (Ludlow College, Luctonians RFC and Herefordshire) midway through the first half was all North Midlands had to show for their efforts.
But North Midlands looked vulnerable against Warwickshire’s pacy backs and were relieved that their hosts converted only two of their tries, two of which came in the last two minutes of the match.
North Midlands will return to Broadstreet to complete their short representative programme on November 6 for the annual Super Sunday tournament. Their opponents have yet to be decided.
