Alex Davidson has stepped down as coach of the North Midlands senior side because of personal reasons.
The former Birmingham & Solihull and Luctonians succeeded Dan Protherough as county coach last season and was due to take North Midlands into this season’s County Championship campaign, which starts against Hampshire at Dudley Kingswinford on May 6.
But Davidson’s father, Paul, recently passed away after a brave battle with cancer and he has also been made redundant from his job as Luctonians’ director of rugby.
Davidson has now reluctantly decided to step down from his county coaching commitments and will hand over responsibility to Rod Petty, one of his assistant coaches.
Petty, the Stourbridge and former Birmingham & Solihull and Bournville utility back, is a former North Midlands player.
