Don ‘Dippy’ Jones, a long-serving North Midlands referee and well-known figure at Stourbridge, has died aged 90.
Jones was a first team wing forward for Stourbridge who switched to refereeing at the age of 40 and was taking charge of two matches a week well into his eighties.
Jones was also a keen golfer and took up croquet in his 88th year. He was a regular attender of Stourbridge and Stourbridge Lions home matches.
The thoughts of all at North Midlands RFU are with Don’s wife June, children Jane, Elizabeth, Martyn, all family and friends.
The funeral will be held at 2.10 pm on Friday July 20 at Stourbridge Crematorium and afterwards at Stourbridge Rugby Club.
