A blood donors’ campaign has been in launched in Droitwich in memory of young rugby player James O’Mara.
O’Mara died in June after battling leukaemia and he required 89 units of blood during his treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Now Droitwich have teamed up with the Bloodwise charity and the NHS Blood Transplant team to encourage club members and the wider community in the town to each donate 89 units of blood.
Droitwich will host a Bloodwise awareness event in their clubhouse on September 10 and the NHS Blood Transplant team will be present to advise how, where and when they can become blood donors.
