Back-row forward Hill, a former North Midlands Under-16s player, scored a brace of tries to help England to a bonus point victory over Australia in their final pool match in Santa Fe on Wednesday. He switches from the blindside flank to number eight against Ireland.
Loosehead prop Owen, who played for North Mid;lands Under-20s in the 2017/18 season, was an unused replacement against Australia but returns to the starting XV as one of two changes made by Head Coach Steve Bates.
Both Hill and Owen now play for Worcester Warriors with Hill having recently signed his first senior contract with the Premiership club.
“We felt it was important to give the majority of the side that played against Australia another go as it was by far our best performance of the tournament. The challenge for our squad now is to back up that performance with one that is better,” Bates said.
“We cannot approach it with any degree of complacency or lack of acknowledgment that it took a lot of hard work, commitment and team work to perform at that standard against Australia. We’ve got to keep moving forward as a team and continue to develop.
“This will be the third time we’ve played Ireland this season and in both games discipline has let us down, so we’ve got to the learn the lessons from those two fixtures.”
