Ringing in the changes at Bournville
Following the club’s recent AGM, it’s all change at Bournville.
Mick Palmer stood down as Chairman after 8 highly successful years in the role, during which time he oversaw the club’s rise from level 6 to level 4. Bournville will be playing in the new National League 2 West next season.
Darren Clegg replaces Mick in the top job after serving for 11 years as Hon. Secretary, with Emily Brindley from the women’s section taking over as Hon. Secretary.
Chris Strange and Alex Bann become joint Vice-Chairmen, with Alex concentrating on helping Darren to develop even closer ties with the club’s rapidly expanding Minis & Juniors section and Chris working to enhance the club’s match day experience.
Veteran club Hon. Treasurer Mick O’Sullivan completes the line-up of Officers retaining his invaluable experience after more than 30 years looking after the club’s finances.
Alistair Blacklaws, Phil Maynard and Rob Sigley were elected to serve on the General Committee for season 2022-23.
Reflecting on the changes, incoming Chairman Darren Clegg commented; “Mick Palmer is a huge act to follow. His enthusiasm, encouragement, and willingness to help anyone within the club will be sorely missed. It is a sign of the level of respect and affection in which Mick is held that he was unanimously elected to become only the club’s 4thHon. Life Vice-President, alongside Bournville legends Harry Tempest, Pete Jordan and Sergeant Carl Taylor MC. He hands the club over in far better shape both on and off the field than he found it.”
Bournville’s season starts on Saturday 3 September with a home fixture against Hinckley at Avery Fields.
