Moseley’s new £3.6m stand will be officially opened by 2003 England World Cup winning Captain Martin Johnson before the South Birmingham’s British & Irish Cup fixture against Ealing Trailfinders at Billesley Common on November 14.
The facility scooped the prestigious BMW-Sponsored National Rugby Award for Club Development of the Year earlier this summer and to mark the occasion adult ground entry for the Ealing fixture will be just £5.
Solihull born Johnson won 84 England caps between 1993 and 2003 ending his career with the biggest prize of all – the only Englishman to lift The Webb Ellis Trophy. The 6′ 7” lock forward played in 3 British & Irish Lions tours including the famous series win in South Africa in 1997.
After a playing career that included 362 matches for Leicester Tigers, including captaining them to four Premiership titles and consecutive Heineken Cup wins, he was awarded the CBE in the 2004 New Year honours. He was England Head Coach between 2008 and 2011 and finished with a creditable return of P40 Won 21.
Johnson will officially open the new 700-seater stand and welcome guests to the outstanding hospitality facility – The Reddings Suite. The new development includes a high quality function room that can seat 350 for lunch and dinners, a further 400 can be accommodated in the adjoining building.
