North MIdlands Women’s 5-0 win over Cheshire at Chester today was marred by a serious injury to Moseley flanker Harriet Mustard.
Mustard had to be taken to hospital by air ambulance after she suffered a head injury midway through the second half. The match was stopped and then abandoned by the referee while Mustard was treated by medical staff and the air ambulance was called.
As 60 minutes of the match had been played the result will stand but that was of secondary importance to Mustard’s condition.
Before the stoppage North Midlands had taken the lead with an unconverted try from captain and hooker Steph Clarke of Worcester.
Update: We are pleased to report that the air ambulance was not required and Harriet was able to walk to the ambulance. She was taken to hospital but will be discharged this evening (May 1).
