PAST winners Moseley and Hinckley have been given first round byes in this season’s National Colts Cup.
Moseley, who won the inaugural competition in 1998, will travel to Evesham in the second round next month while Hinckley, winners in 2009, will host either Market Bosworth or Market Harborough in an all-Leicestershire tie.
The first round, which is due to be played by the weekend of September 27 and 28, includes Worcester Wanderers, beaten finalists two seasons ago, who have been drawn at home to Hereford.
The National Colts Cup was introduced for the 1997/98 season as part of the East Midlands RU’s centenary celebrations. The National Colts Plate, for sides beaten in rounds one to three of the Cup, was introduced in 1999.
Both competitions, are now contested by Under 18 teams from clubs across the country, are still organised and administered by the East Midlands RU.
