Newport, the North Midlands Cup holders, face an away tie at Old Halesonians in this season’s semi-finals.
Newport, who beat Worcester Wanderers in last season’s final at Dudley Kingswinford, eased through the quarter-finals with 67-0 home win over higher-ranked Dudley Kingswinford yesterday while Old Halesonians beat Bromsgrove 24-7 at Finstall Park.
In the other semi-final Hereford will have home advantage against Whitchurch after their 15-7 win at Worcester Wanderers.
Whitchurch bet Bournville 30-25 in their quarter-final.
Old Halesonians have never won the North Midlands Cup. Newport also won the competition in 2011, Hereford won it in 1988, 1990 and 1992 and Whitchurch in 1997 and 1999.
The four beaten Cup quarter-finalists will now compete in the new Plate competition in which Dudley Kingswinford will host Bournville in the semi-finals while Worcester Wanderers entertain Bromsgrove.
The semi-finals of both the Cup and Plate are schedule to be played on November 29.
