North Midlands have launched a referee recruitment initiative aimed at finding at least 30 new referees to support the expected increase in playing numbers during Rugby World Cup year.
North Midlands have agreed to provide £200 per candidate to cover the cost of the Level Two course fee and to reward each club that finds a new referee with £100 with a further £50 going to that club’s Domestic Union.
Apart from completing the Level Two course the requirement of the initiative is that the new referees join the North Midlands Society of Rugby Referees and complete five matches on behalf of the Society.
The NMSRFR will support the new referees by allocating a mentor to each of them.
