North Midlands RFU are mourning their President Nigel Banwell who died suddenly today.
Nigel collapsed while he was helping his club Upton on Severn prepare for their Midlands Three West South neighbours Evesham.
Nigel was a loyal and committed servant of Upton and he continued to give them outstanding service as their fixture secretary while also devoting his time to the county.
He served North Midlands as Competitions Chairman and was elected President in June 2015 having served as Junior Vice President then Senior Vice President.
Nigel was midway through the second year of his two year Presidency when he died.
Nigel leaves a widow, Jane, a son Oliver, who is coach of Upton, and a daughter Ruth, who lives in Australia.
He taught woodwork at the Elgar High School in Worcester before retirement.
All at North Midlands RFU send their condolences to Nigel’s family, his many friends and all at Upton on Severn RFC.
