On a cold, blustery but dry day, North Midlands kicked off with the wind behind them; after some equal exchanges of possession it was Staffordshire who scored first.
Not to be outdone North Midlands came back shortly afterwards with a well-worked try (Abbie Smitheman, Worcester RFC) formed from a good combination of play between the backs and forwards.
North Midlands won 4 penalties in the first half but couldn’t convert the advantage due to some very solid defensive work from Staffs. Their quick backline then went on to give them another try.
North Midlands came out with gusto in the second half with a pack that had already shown great domination, a quick try by North Midlands (Lilli Ives-Campion, Worcester RFC) gave the impression that the game could turn.
A further try (Megan Hamer, Oswestry RFC) then Staffs took advantage of their strong back line and processed the ball well scoring another 2 tries.
North Midlands attempted to pass the ball to the wingers out wide but were held back extremely well. Final try of the game went to Abbie Smitheman.
Despite the dominance of the North Midlands pack the team were defeated 33-20
