With the advent of the new season and 2nd XV’s in League rugby it is expected that some Clubs may wish to play 17 year olds in Adult Rugby at some stage during the season. This ruling applies to both male and female players.
I would remind those Clubs in order for a 17 year old to play Adult Rugby the Club MUST be Approved for that role by the CB. The Club Approval form can be found in Regulation 15 of the RFU Regulations or on the North Midlands RFU Website. Part of that Approval also involves the Club posting their policy with regard to the playing of those 17 year olds in Adult Rugby on their website.
Once the Club has been Approved then the Player Approval forms can be submitted for the player to be Approved. The player must be assessed by a Level 2 Coach. The Player Approval form can be found in Regulation 15 of the RFU Regulations or on the North Midlands RFU Website. Only when both the Club and the Player have been Approved by the CB can that player play Adult Rugby before his/her 18th birthday.
All forms should be sent to cbplayerapproval@gmail.com and should you wish any further information it can be obtained from Gordon Wood (see full details attached).
