Peter Haile, the former Telford Hornets and Whitchurch fly-half, has died aged 70.
Haile played for Telford from 1968 to 1980 and captained the club in 1970.
He played county rugby for Shropshire and was a member of Telford’s Shropshire Cup-winning team in 1979.
After retiring from playing, Haile continued his involvement by becoming a referee with the Staffordshire Society.
Haile was also a keen golfer and was captain and president of the Shropshire Golf Club.
Haile was head of PE at The Manor School in Hadley and deputy head of Madeley Court School in Telford.
His Funeral is on April 12 at 10.am at Telford Crematorium. Those attending are requested to wear something purple, Haile’s favourite colour.
