Greater Birmingham have named 10 newcomers in their squad for the opening match in this season’s Iskitz Three Counties Championship against reigning champions Shropshire at Birmingham Exiles’ Elmdon ground on Tuesday April 21 (7.30pm).
Jon Duckers, Jan Erikson, Mike Benson, Nathan Spinner, Ryan Brunsdon, Terry Clarke, Tom Williams, Bruce Lacey, Ed Lea and Joshia Luczak have all been called up by Greater Birmingham as they attempt to avenge their defeat by Shropshire in last season’s final at Stourbridge.
Greater Birmingham will be captained by Walsall’s former Moseley flanker Steve Halbert for the first match in the competition which has new sponsors this season.
Greater Birmingham will play their second group match against Worcestershire & Herefordshire at Ledbury on May 5 with the top two teams in the group progressing to the final at Old Halesonians on May 17.
The Iskitz Three Counties Championship is contested annually by the three Domestic Unions which comprise the North Midlands RFU and gives players from outside of the National Leagues the opportunity to play county representative rugby.
