Villa Park has been chosen as the venue for the North Midlands Clubs Together day on July 1.
The famous football ground staged two matches in the 2015 Rugby World Cup and will host the Rugby Sevens tournament when the Commonwealth Games come to Birmingham in 2022.
Close links between Aston Villa and North Midlands were forged at planning meetings before the Rugby World Cup and North Midlands have decided to use the football club’s excellent hospitality facilities for the Club Together Event.
Andy Coslett, chairman of the RFU Management Board, will be the guest speaker at the event which will give representatives from North Midlands clubs the opportunity to learn from one of the English game’s key decision-makers about the direction in which the RFU intend to take rugby union over the next four years.
There will also be an opportunity for clubs to give Coslett feedback on the concerns and challenges they face.
A full programme for the day is being prepared based around North Midlands RFU vision to support the development of clubs and the growth of rugby in North Midlands, which covers Greater Birmingham, Shropshire and Worcestershire & Herefordshire.
There is no charge to clubs for attending the North Midlands Club Together event. Clubs can nominate up to four representatives each plus a safeguarding officer.
Nominations with their email addresses should be sent to Sarah Wild at: nmrfuas@gmail.com
