The book is now closed on the 2013-14 season, and the final league tables can be found on the website: www.worcs-hfdsrfu.co.uk.
As you are all very well aware, unfortunately, the weather played a major role in cancellation of fixtures – beating last year to become the worst season since the tables began.
Our thanks go to all clubs for their endeavours to get as many matches re-scheduled as possible. Any that were not successfully rearranged were treated as a nil-nil draw, and the points shared between the teams.
Divisional winners were:
Div 1: Stourbridge Lions 2nds, who are promoted into West Midlands Reserve League Div 3
Div 2: Bournville 3rds, who are promoted to Division 1
Div 3: Old Yardleians 3rds, who are promoted to Division 2, along with runners-up Old Halesonians 4ths.
Our congratulations to all these clubs for their achievement. Trophies will be presented at the County Dinner on October 24th
Dudley Kingswinford 4ths and Hereford 3rds are relegated from Division 1 to Division 2.
Redditch 2nds and Bromyard 2nds are relegated from Division 2 to Division 3.
For next season, there are several other new additions:
Ludlow 2nds are joining W & H Div 1
Malvern 3rds are re-establishing their 3rds and joining in Div 2
Clee Hill 2nds are joining W & H Div 3.
This leaves the divisional line-ups as follows:
Division 1 Division 2 Division 3
Bournville 3 Dudley Kingswinford 4 Bridgnorth 3
Bridgnorth 2 Evesham 3 Bromyard 2
Evesham 2 Hereford 3 Clee Hill 2
Kidderminster 2 Malvern 3 Kidderminster 3
Ledbury 2 Old Halesonians 4 Kings Norton 2
Ludlow 2 Old Yardleans 3 Ledbury 3
Old Halesonians 3 Pershore 2 Redditch 2
Old Yardleans Ross-on-Wye Stourport 2
Worcester Wanderers 3 Stourbridge Lions 3 Worcester Wanderers 4
Upton 2nds
As with previous seasons, rather than impose dates for fixtures, we are leaving it to fixture secretaries to plan the games, and to timetable, as best fits them with their other fixtures, especially where clubs are already playing each other, eg. in the League. Overall, this is more efficient for all concerned.
For convenience, we would recommend, however, that where possible, Merit table games are matched to League/Cup weekends, giving more freedom with ‘Friendly’ weekends. I would remind you; however, that Merit Table games take preference over friendlies. We also recommend, that, if possible, you try to avoid the core winter months, or schedule as best you can around it, and avoid the potential rearrangements.
Can we ask, that as soon as you have completed your fixture arrangements, you send us through the complete list so that we can add to the master schedule, and publish on the website.
A further communication will follow in the coming weeks, with a full list of regulations/guidelines.
